We are excited to announce that the Volatility Plugin Contest is officially open for submissions!

The annual Plugin Contest is your opportunity to:

  • Directly contribute to the open source forensics community.
  • Put groundbreaking capabilities into the hands of digital investigators.
  • Gain industry-wide visibility for your work.
  • Contribute to an important open-source project.
  • Win a cash prize!

The contest is designed to encourage research and development in the field of memory analysis. Every year, contributions from all around the world continue to help build the next generation of memory forensics.

Submissions for the 13th annual Volatility Plugin Contest will be accepted until December 31, 2025. Winners will receive over 6000 USD in cash prizes! See the full contest details.

October 2025: From The Source + Upcoming In-Person Training Event

As we announced in May, on October 20, 2025, the Volatility Foundation is once again hosting From The Source (FTSCon), a one-day summit, in Arlington, VA! Speakers will include developers of your favorite open-source tools and the digital investigators who discovered some of the biggest intrusions of the past year. Learn more…

Immediately following FTSCon, there will be a four-day, in-person Malware and Memory Forensics Training course, October 21–24, 2025, in Arlington, VA. This course will be led by Volatility core developers Andrew Case, Michael Hale Ligh, and Dave Lassalle. Information about this training course and how to register can be found here.
